Elementia

This was a project I've done on late 2018 with a group of six people consisting three artists, me being one of the two designers, and one sole engineer. A side-scroller game that focuses on the medieval time period, follows the story of Cerian, the last master wizard of the land of the four core Earthily elements, saving the day from the contaminated and hypnotized four elemental dragons of the Holy Land by a traitor of the Kingdom.

In this project, being the passive one of the two designers, I mainly took the role of the thinker. I come up with themes, the stories, certain goals, achievements, and conflicts, and of course, the general design aspect of the game. Storytelling isn't just about making the game a more fun thing to play, but how we make sure that these certain audience may take it deep within, and possibly even get inspired.

Ah.. audio work. This is sometimes an annoying and tedious job, but the end result is always.. always satisfying, which is why I always come back to it after nearly every single project. This project was one of my thoroughly successful audio work since I integrated most of the game's sound effects with foley sounds, such as the water particle element was just me moving my hand across a bucket of water, and the lava ambient background sound literally was just a recording of me boiling a potato for dinner lol. Audio design and editing is one of those roles in projects where, I must say, doesn't get that much credit in general, either it just flies over everyone's head or goes under the radar, however it could legit define how good a game's production is.

Trailer was another thing. Had a little bit of cinematic work myself, I stepped up and took the role for all video editing purposes of the game, and it turned out quite well. Although due to the amount of time we had, I would much prefer a more dynamic trailer myself, since the trailer itself was simply just a slideshow of pictures of the game (plus my well-edited beautiful, sexy voice over), I experimented different types of stuff to get as much cinematic look I can from the limited resources I got.
